At Mickey Leland College Preparatory Academy for Young Men, we are committed to providing a rigorous academic foundation that equips students for college, careers, and life. HISD schools offer high-quality instruction and a range of programs tailored to meet diverse student needs and interests. Our campus is no exception.

Our instructional model emphasizes academic excellence, critical thinking, and college readiness. Students benefit from a variety of advanced academic opportunities, including:

  • Advanced Placement (AP) courses across multiple subjects

  • OnRamps dual-enrollment courses, such as College Algebra and Digital Animation & Entertainment Technology for seniors, and Physics for juniors

  • EDUC 1300: Learning Frameworks for all freshmen, helping students build effective study habits and transition smoothly into dual credit courses

  • Algebra I for all 8th grade students, providing a head start on high school mathematics

  • Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways in Programming & Software Development for Computer Science and Graphic Design & Interactive Media, offering students hands-on experience with industry-relevant tools and skills leading to Industry Based Certifications.
